The Writers' Group, LA is a writers group focused
mostly on feature film screenplays. We do accept
prose, poetry,
or television writers but we always try to persuade them
to join the money makers.
Each week, four member writers present
new work before the group.
Our group maintains a rotating list and each
author has an opportunity to present new work every 3-4
weeks.
When presenting, each writer is responsible
for contacting the actors needed to perform their material.
We
have a large
roster of professional actors that graciously bring the work
to life. Many show on there own and some writers are always
getting asked to read. It's a pretty laid back environment.
Once the work is performed, the author sits
with the moderator for an open discussion about the work.
During this discussion, constructive criticism and development
ideas are openly exchanged.
Our monthly dues are a nominal $20 per writer.
This small fee covers our theater rental and basically nothing
else. It use to actually cover more but with rent these days,
well, nuff said.
Our group meets every Wednesday from 7 - 10
pm. We are currently meeting at The Two
Roads Theater in Studio City. If you
